Track Wave Editor

This feature is exclusively available in our PRO plan.

With our online-based audio editor, you can play songs and set cue points. These cue points affect playback and provide valuable information about intros, hooks, and next points. Thanks to the optimized technology, which ensures an ultra-fast connection between song playback and song graphics, cue points can be set while the song is playing. This guarantees that the precision of setting cue points is maintained.

Wave Editor is only visible, if the audio type of this track is set to Music.

Open this page in the Dashboard: Dashboard > Audio > Library

Click on track and select "Wave Editor" on the Track Detail menu

Play & Pause

The song is played and stopped by pressing the spacebar.

1. Zoom Levels

Use the slider to zoom deeply into the song's waveform. Drag the red dot with the arrow label in the corresponding direction. Alternatively, you can use the magnifying glasses with plus and minus (to the left and right of the zoom bar).

2. Zoom Overview

Below the original waveform, there is an additional thinner waveform that always shows the entire track regardless of the zoom level. When zoom is activated, the section you are viewing in detail is visible on this smaller waveform. Clicking on this smaller waveform will immediately shift the zoomed-in view.

3 Cue Points

Each cue point has a time field, a Play function, and a Set function.

  • Times can be entered manually. The format is in seconds and milliseconds, separated by a comma.

  • The "Play" button allows immediate playback from the set time.

  • The "Set" button allows setting a time point. Pressing this creates a cue point for that field based on the cursor's position in the Wave Editor. Cue points can be set using the Set button either while paused or during playback.

Information on Cue Point Types:

Start

Indicates the time at which the song should start playing.

Intro

Marks when vocals begin in the song, indicating the end of the instrumental phase at the beginning of the song. If the song is purely instrumental, it is recommended to leave this value at 0. This field is not mandatory.

Hook-in

Marks the beginning of a song's chorus. In apps and on websites, a preview of the song will play from this point for approximately 30 seconds. This field is optional; if left blank, previews will start from the Start time.

Next

Marks the exact time when the follow-up track (Song B) begins. It should be set carefully and at a rhythmic point. The playback system ensures that Song B starts at the Next Point and plays at the same volume as Song A until the End Cue Point of Song A. If Song A fades out early, the Fade Out box must be checked.

End

Marks the end of the song. It is recommended to set this point so that it does not cut off the track, but also does not include a long silence after the last note.

Fadeout

If a song should fade out from the Next Point rather than continuing to the End Point, check the Fadeout checkbox. When checked, the playback will dynamically fade out the song with a default value of 2.5 seconds. This is especially suitable for songs that already have a slow fade-out at the end based on production.

To adjust the fade-out length from the default 2.5 seconds, enter a different value in the box. Note: This function must be used with caution.

  • The cue point should be set exactly where the fade-out should end after the cue point.

  • Leaving this box empty (value 0) will use the default 2.5-second fade-out.

Important Notes:

  • If the Start or End time of a song is changed, the audio file will be regenerated. This may take a moment and can be seen in the song status on the Library Search Page.

  • The most important points for a successful mix through the playback system are Start, Next, and End. Other points can be considered optional.

  • If an automated music import is set up and cue points are also imported automatically, these values will be transferred from your local music database to the corresponding cue point time fields. In this case, manual editing in the Wave Editor can be skipped. It is recommended to adjust the cue points in the local software and wait for them to be synchronized with the database daily, at which point they will also be updated in the Wave Editor.
